Dodgers Trade Noah Davis To Twins For Cash Considerations

The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Noah Davis to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for cash considerations on Monday.

The move came just three days after the Dodgers designated Davis for assignment when Nick Nastrini was claimed off waivers from the Miami Marlins.

The Dodgers previously acquired Davis from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations on the day of their home opener at Dodger Stadium.

Davis signed a Minor League contract with the Red Sox during the offseason, but he already had Major League experience, appearing in each of the last three seasons.

The right-hander appeared a career-high nine games for the Colorado Rockies in 2024. In 2023, Davis logged a career-high 30 innings for the Rockies, when he pitched in eight games (six starts).

Over parts of the three seasons from 2022-2024, Davis went 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA, 5.65 FIP and 1.95 WHIP in 18 games (six starts).

Davis’ MLB debut came against the Dodgers when he allowed two runs on three hits, including a home run. He also faced the Dodgers in 2023, giving up four runs over 4.1 innings pitched during a start at Coors Field.

Davis was assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City upon being traded to the Dodgers and wound up serving as organizational pitching depth.

He went 0-1 with a 19.50 ERA and 2.50 WHIP in five appearances spread across four separate stints with the Dodgers. In Oklahoma City, he was 2-0 with one save and a 4.34 ERA in 20 games (two starts).

Davis’ final appearance with the Dodgers saw him surrender 10 runs in the sixth inning to the Houston Astros before he was sent back to the Minors the following day on July 5. He was designated for assignment six days later.

Noah Davis had one option remaining

The move to swap Davis and Nastrini on the 40-man roster was likely due to Davis having just one option remaining this season. The Dodgers sent him down on April 26 and 29, and July 2 and 5.

MLB rules allow players to be optioned no more than five times during a season, or else they will have to stay on the active roster or be designated for assignment.

Davis was unlikely to stick around with the club if he had another stint with them, so the Dodgers would have needed to designated him for assignment at that point anyways.
