Dodgers Top Highlights From 2017 Season: No. 5, Four-Run Inning Ends With Walk-Off Win Against Diamondbacks

The Los Angeles Dodgers had 10 walk-off wins throughout the 2017 season, and while they are all special, one of the more memorable instances came on July 6 against the Arizona Diamondbacks and closer Fernando Rodney.

Rodney historically seems to have one rough outing per season at Dodger Stadium, and unfortunately for the Diamondbacks he imploded in resounding fashion. Both starters pitched brilliant outings, as Robbie Ray gave up one run in six innings while striking out 13, and Rich Hill allowed one run in seven innings, complete with nine strikeouts.

Arizona broke through in the eighth and ninth innings, scoring three runs off Dodgers relievers Luis Avilan and Josh Fields to take a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the ninth.

Rodney struggled greatly with his command on that night, as after giving up a leadoff single to Yasiel Puig, he walked the next three batters faced. The last of which was to Logan Forsythe and brought in a run.

Corey Seager then stepped to the plate and promptly knocked a two-run single to center field, tying the game. Still with no outs, Rodney intentionally walked Justin Turner to once again load the bases.

With the outfield playing in to possibly throw out a runner at home, Chris Taylor hit a fly ball to deep left field, which ended up getting over the head of Reymond Fuentes for a walk-off single.

The Dodgers completed a sweep of the Diamondbacks with their comeback victory, and it was part of an 11-game winning streak. Despite his struggles against the Dodgers, Rodney is looking forward to a potential matchup in the National League Division Series.
