Tommy Edman was named 2024 National League Championship Series MVP after the Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated the New York Mets in Game 6.

Edman hit safely in each of the first five NLCS games, batting .409/.391/.500 with two doubles and seven RBI during that span. Edman then extended his hitting streak by going 2-for-5 with a double and home run in the Dodgers’ deciding win at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.

He delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the first inning that helped the Dodgers erase an early 1-0 deficit. That also represented the first lead change of the NLCS.

Edman later hit a two-run homer to give him 11 RBI in the NLCS, tying a Dodgers postseason record for most in a single series.

Edman’s remarkable performance helped the Dodgers clinch their 22nd NL pennant in franchise history and first at home since doing so against the Mets in the 1988 NLCS.

The NLCS MVP Award is a first for Edman in his career and adds onto what’s been an impressive showing with the Dodgers since joining the team at the trade deadline.

NLCS MVP was first introduced in 1977, and the inaugural award was handed out for the ALCS in 1980.

This year is Edman’s fifth trip to the postseason and it represented just his second time reaching the NLCS. Now Edman is poised to play in the World Series for the first time.

Dodgers NLCS MVP history: Tommy Edman & more

Edman is the ninth NLCS MVP winner in Dodgers franchise history. Corey Seager had been the last to earn the honor in 2020.

Justin Turner and Chris Taylor are the only Dodgers to share NLCS MVP honors, which they did in 2017 after helping the franchise reach the World Series for the first time since 1988.

Dusty Baker won the first NLCS MVP Award in MLB postseason history while with the Dodgers in 1977, and Steve Garvey received the hardware the following October.
