Dodgers Spring Training Roster Cuts: Bobby Miller, Hyeseong Kim Among Players Sent To Minor League Camp

Another wave of Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training roster cuts arrived on Wednesday, with Bobby Miller and Hyeseong Kim among the players sent to Minor League camp.

Giovanny Gallegos, Dalton Rushing, David Bote, Michael Chavis and Eddie Rosario were reassigned.

Players on the 40-man roster are required to be optioned while those in camp as non-roster invitees can simply be sent over to the Minor League level.

The Dodgers’ roster cuts came shortly after manager Dave Roberts revealed Kim was not included on their travel roster for the Tokyo Series. Furthermore, Kim is poised to begin the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Miller went into Spring Training among the candidates competing for the fifth spot in the Dodgers’ Opening Day rotation. That was interrupted when Miller was hit in the head by a comebacker.

Miller avoided a fracture but went into concussion protocol and was limited Miller to just the one Cactus League appearance the incident occurred in. He threw all of 11 pitches before coming out of the game.

Rushing is the latest top Dodgers prospect who appears primed to eventually make a splash with the team. Although Rushing began to play left field for Oklahoma City last year, the Dodgers have him focused on continuing to develop at catcher.

Where Rushing’s opportunity with the Dodgers will come is unclear given the presence of Will Smith at catcher, Freddie Freeman at first base and Shohei Ohtani in the designated hitter role.

Bote made a strong case to break camp with the Dodgers and could be a candidate to opt out of his Minor League contract in pursuit of a chance with another club.

Roberts at one point deemed Bote the “MVP” of Dodgers Spring Training.

Dodgers pitchers for Tokyo Series

Yoshinobu Yamamoto had been penciled in for an Opening Day start against the Chicago Cubs, and on Tuesday it was confirmed by Roberts that Sasaki is going to pitch in the Tokyo Series as well.

Sasaki’s MLB debut is due to take place March 19, in the finale of the two games played at the Tokyo Dome.
