The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Cactus League game against the Milwaukee Brewers may have been shortened by rain in the seventh inning on Wednesday night, but a number of their regulars were still able to get their work in and they came away with a 4-1 victory.

Walker Buehler got the start on the mound and continued to build his pitch count, tossing four innings. His command wasn’t great, which can be expected with wet conditions, and he ended up giving up three hits and a run with four strikeouts and three walks.

Scott Alexander, Kenley Jansen and Caleb Ferguson each threw a scoreless innings in relief, giving up just two combined hits with four strikeouts. Dodgers prospect Errol Robinson helped Jansen get the third out of his inning with a diving stop at shortstop, perhaps the best play all spring for L.A.

Corey Seager got the Dodgers on the scoreboard with a solo home run to straightaway center field in the second inning, his first of the spring. Seager finished 2-for-2 and seems primed for a big season, as he is hitting .385/.448/.577 in Cactus League play.

The Dodgers’ other three runs all came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Gavin Lux got the rally started with an opposite-field single with one out, and Austin Barnes followed with a walk. Edwin Rios, Tyler White and Cody Thomas all drove in a run apiece with singles.

Thomas was a relatively unknown prospect coming into the spring, but that is no longer the case as he is leading the league with five home runs while slashing .318/.333/1.091. The outfielder is certainly now on the radar of the Dodgers’ coaching staff and front office, working his way into the mix to make his Major League debut in 2020.
