Dodgers Spring Training Highlights: A.J. Pollock, Corey Seager Hit Home Runs Off Cubs’ Cole Hamels

All eyes were on Corey Seager on Wednesday night as he played in a Major League game for the first time since last April with the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the Chicago Cubs at Sloan Park.

Coming off respective Tommy John and hip surgeries, the Dodgers have been taking things slow with Seager. Wednesday night proved that was the right decision as Seager looked healthy and ready to go for Opening Day.

He got a hold off one in the first inning off Cubs starter Cole Hamels, although Jason Heyward was able to track it down at the warning track in center field.

Seager made up for that loud out in his second at-bat, launching a deep homer to center to pick up where he left off before his injuries.

Seager not only proved he is healthy to get back to his previous hitting form, but he also proved it in the field too. Despite playing closer to the third-base line than usual because of a shift, Seager was able to get all the way to the bag and turn a perfect double play in the bottom of the first inning.

In addition to Seager’s big night at the plate, which also included a sacrifice fly, A.J. Pollock also had a strong night offensively.

Pollock led off the game with a home run to left field, his third of the spring and second in as many games. Pollock’s three home runs ties him for the team lead with Kiké Hernandez and Cody Bellinger.

Overall, Pollock finished 2-for-4 at the plate to continue his strong first spring with the Dodgers, who wound up tying the Cubs.
