As the Los Angeles Dodgers work toward assessing roster needs and hiring coaches for manager Dave Roberts’ staff, they also appear to have made some headway with respect to the medical staff.

Stan Conte resigned as vice president of medical services and head athletic trainer soon after the Dodgers were eliminated from the National League Division Series by the New York Mets.

After 15 years with the San Francisco Giants, Conte was with the Dodgers organization since 2006.

Roughly one month after Conte resigned, assistant athletic trainer Nancy Flynn Patterson followed suit.

Los Angeles reportedly replaced Conte with former Arizona Diamondbacks manual and performance therapist Neal Rampe. According to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, the Dodgers hired former Houston Astros head athletic trainer Nate Lucero as assistant trainer:

The same people said Houston Astros trainer Nate Lucero would join the Dodgers as an assistant trainer.

Lucero spent the last 23 years in the Houston organization, with the last seven coming as Astros head athletic trainer. Lucero received the Texas League Trainer of the Year award in 2000 for his work with Triple-A Round Rock Express.

Then in 2002, Lucero was named the strength and conditioning coordinator for the Astros organization. He held that position until 2007, when he became the strength and conditioning assistant for the Major League club.

The Dodgers have made the hires of Lucero or Rampe official.
