Reports began to surface Saturday night of the Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Indians agreeing to a trade centered around coveted catcher Jonathan Lucroy.

Come early Sunday morning, with the Lucroy deal still not official, Cleveland completed a trade with the New York Yankees for relief pitcher Andrew Miller.

However, shortly after that was made official, word surfaced of Lucroy vetoing the trade to the Indians. Cleveland is one of eight teams on his no-trade list.

It’s believed the Brewers will continue to pursue a trade for their All-Star catcher prior to Monday’s 1 p.m. PT non-waiver deadline.

According to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball, the Los Angeles Dodgers discussed a large trade with Milwaukee that involved Lucroy:

dodgers were another team that had talks on lucroy. tho word is, at time it was part of a bigger deal involving more teams.

— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) July 31, 2016

While it’s unclear if the Dodgers would have acquired the 30-year-old catcher, it should be noted they are not on the list of teams Lucroy can veto a trade to. The Dodgers certainly are no strangers to completing complex trades, having swung a pair of three-team deals since last August.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman surmised earlier this month that the organization’s deep crop of prospects would put them in the thick of trade discussions. Lucroy this season is batting .300/.360/.484 with 17 doubles, 13 home runs and 50 RBIs in 94 games.

His contract includes a $5.25 million club option for 2017, with a $250,000 buyout.
