Dodgers Roster: Blake Treinen Placed On Injured List, Andre Jackson Recalled

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Blake Treinen on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder tightness and recalled Andre Jackson from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Saturday’s game against the San Diego Padres.

Treinen’s second IL stint of the season was backdated to Sept. 7, which makes Thursday, Sept. 22 the first day he is eligible to return. Treinen last pitched Monday against the San Francisco Giants, and he was among multiple Dodgers relief pitchers who were ruled out from potentially appearing in the finale of the homestand.

Manager Dave Roberts then revealed after Friday’s loss to the Padres that Treinen was experiencing right arm soreness and therefore unavailable. Treinen played catch Saturday afternoon with a trainer watching, but the feedback was not encouraging.

“It’s still sore, so not great, to be quite honest,” Roberts said before the roster move. “I just felt that having the four days off, he’d be able to play catch today and be viable tonight. But that’s not the case.”

The 34-year-old made only two appearances since returning from a partial tear in the capsule of his right shoulder. Treinen spent 10 weeks recovering from the shoulder injury that he did not reveal details of until getting activated off the 60-day IL.

Although the Dodgers’ official designation for Treinen’s injury is right shoulder tightness and he has history with a capsule tear, Roberts indicated the latest issue was more in the lat area.

Jackson returns to Dodgers roster

Jackson is back up on the Dodgers roster for a third time this season. He’s yet to appear in a game for the team, and is 2-7 with a 5.00 ERA across 21 appearances (19 starts) with Oklahoma City.

Jackson made his MLB debut last season and went 0-1 with one save and a 2.31 ERA in three games for the Dodgers.
