The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Andy Pages from Triple-A Oklahoma City and designated Taylor Trammell for assignment.

Pages is one of the Dodgers top prospects and impressed in Spring Training and his brief stint with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club.

The batting .371/.452/.694 with three doubles, one triple, five home runs and 15 RBI through 15 games with OKC this season. Pages slugged two homers on Sunday to give him five in the last seven games.

The 23-year-old is coming off back-to-back three-hit games and he’s hit safely eight in a row. During that span he has seven multi-hit games and gone 18-for-35 with two doubles, five home runs, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored.

Pages additionally led the team with 23 hits and 16 runs scored.

Pages was first promoted to Triple-A during the 2023 season, but he played just one game there before undergoing season ending shoulder surgery. That injury added some skepticism to his timeline and outlook, but he has so far proved it to be a minor bump in the road.

He is ranked No. 3 on the Dodgers prospect list by MLB Pipeline behind Dalton Rushing and Nick Frasso, and No. 94 overall in MLB.

The decision to promote Pages is partly related to the recent setback of Jason Heyward, who continues to deal with back soreness and does not have a clear timeline.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed hope Heyward would return soon, but the veteran outfielder will also need a rehab assignment when he does begin to work his way back.

Chris Taylor and Kiké Hernández have filled in for Heyward, but the Dodgers have received minimal production from the duo, and the bottom of their lineup has struggled as a whole.

They will look for Pages to provide a spark and some more production amid losing four of their previous five games. With his Pages’ talent, it would not be surprising to see him run away with the starting job either.

Taylor Trammell designated for assignment

The Dodgers claimed Trammell off waivers from the Seattle Mariners to replace Jason Heyward when he was first placed on the 15-day injured list, but he never seemed to be a long-term fit on the roster.

He has gone hitless in six at-bats this year, striking out in three of them.

The Dodgers now have one week to either trade him or place him on outright or unconditional release waivers. If he clears waivers, he can be assigned to the Minor Leagues.
