The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Andre Jackson and optioned Mitch White on potentially the last day of their regular season. The Dodgers need to complete a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers and get assistance from the San Diego Padres to force a Game 163 against the San Francisco Giants.

White is off the active roster one day after getting recalled as the corresponding move to Clayton Kershaw going on the 10-day injured list due to left forearm discomfort. Kershaw’s year has likely come to an end, but the full extent of his injury won’t be determined until undergoing examinations on Monday.

White threw a scoreless inning on Saturday night and is 1-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 21 games (four starts). He’s a combined 3-0 with a 1.65 ERA in 12 games (nine starts) with OKC and Low-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Jackson is back up with the Dodgers for the first time since getting optioned on Sept. 10 when Gavin Lux was recalled. The rookie made his MLB debut on Aug. 16 and again followed an opener 11 days later.

Jackson pitched well in both appearances but took a loss against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He’s 0-1 with a 1.04 ERA and seven strikeouts over 8.2 innings pitched across the two games. Jackson became the first pitcher in the modern era with at least five strikeouts, four walks, and not allow any runs in a relief appearance for his MLB debut.

When in the Minors, Jackson has pitched for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, going a combined 5-5 with a 3.68 ERA.

Dodgers’ approach in finale

With all games on the final day of the regular season starting at the same time, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the potential for his decisions to be impacted by the National League West race is marginal and only would become a factor if action at Oracle Park begins to heavily tilt in one direction.
