The Los Angeles Dodgers farm system has undergone a lot shuffling during the offseason, with several names in their organization earning top prospect designations for the first time.

Dalton Rushing is considered top Dodgers prospect by many evaluators, but that’s not the case for everybody. The Athletic’s Keith Law released his list of top 100 prospects for the 2024 season, with the Dodgers being led by Josue De Paula at No. 25.

Following De Paula, another less common name is near the top of Law’s list with River Ryan checking in at No. 33 overall. Following those two, Rushing is ranked No. 86, Gavin Stone comes in at No. 95, and another newcomer onto the list, Thayron Liranzo, is 99th.

De Paula batted .284/.396/.372 with 15 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 40 RBI and 14 stolen bases over 74 games in his first season with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. He’s seen as one of the top hitters to come through the Dodgers farm system in quite some time.

Ryan is among the newcomers in prospect rankings and within the Dodgers organization, he’s been one of their most surprising arms and a quick riser. In 97.1 innings pitched for Double-A Tulsa in 2023, Ryan compiled a 3.33 ERA with a 23.7% strikeout rate and 9.4% walk rate.

Since 2022, Ryan has made appearances at four Minor League levels in the Dodgers’ farm system after being acquired from the San Diego Padres in the Matt Beaty trade.

Rushing has displayed a fair amount of power, but in 2023 he posted an average offensive season.

In 89 games for High-A Great Lakes, Rushing batted .228/.404/.452 with 18 doubles, 15 home runs and 53 RBI. Rushing likely won’t make his MLB debut until the 2025 season at the earliest, however, he was ranked on MLB Pipeline’s top-10 catching prospects, coming in at No. 6.

Although Stone endured a rough 2023 season in his debut with the Dodgers, the right-hander still possesses the upside of a quality arm.

Stone finished his first season with the Dodgers with a 9.00 ERA, 6.64 FIP and 1.90 WHIP across 31 innings. Stone gave a lot of credit to veteran Clayton Kershaw for guiding him through some struggles, while being an important influence.

Joining the Dodgers in 2021, Liranzo is part of an elite class of catchers within the organization. The 20-year-old batted .272/.400/.562 in 94 games with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at Single-A in 2023.

His power output raised eyebrows when he notched 24 doubles, 24 home runs, 70 RBI this past year.

Dodgers prospects ranked by ESPN

Rushing and De Paula continue to be among fast risers within the Dodgers system, receiving special recognition among the top farmhands among evaluators.

De Paula was a piece of the Dodgers’ 2022 international signing class, becoming one of MLB’s most interesting outfield prospects for his plus hit and power tools. Although he’ll likely find a home in the corner outfield, De Paul has a ton of room to grow.
