Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Michael Busch was promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, and he immediately made an impact by hitting a home run in a 13-5 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas.

Busch, the No. 64 overall prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, flied out in his first at-bat before hitting a towering two-run home run in his next plate appearance. The ball left his bat at an exit velocity of 101.1 mph and soared over the left-center field wall.

Busch ended his night by lacing a single to right field to record his 12th multi-hit game of the season. He went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in his first game at the Triple-A level.

In 32 games between Double-A Tulsa and the OKC Dodgers this season, Busch is batting a .310/.444/.681 with six doubles, 12 home runs and 31 RBI over 142 plate appearances.

The No. 31 overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft hit .267/.386/.484 with 27 doubles, 20 home runs and 67 RBI in 107 games during his second professional season last year.

A first baseman in college, Busch has improved his defensive versatility by learning how to play second base and some left field. That could potentially help him reach the Majors faster as the Dodgers place a high value on flexibility.

Busch impressed Dodgers in Spring Training

Busch’s impressive start to the 2022 season comes on the heels of a productive showing in Spring Training that saw him go 4-for-8 with two doubles and one RBI across five games.
