Keibert Ruiz On Dodgers Postseason Roster For Wild Card Series Vs. Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially set their postseason roster for the Wild Card Series matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers, electing to carry 15 position players and 13 pitchers. It held true to what manager Dave Roberts had suggested would be the case.

Despite the Dodgers carrying 15 pitchers on their active roster throughout much of the season, the team felt comfortable reducing that number in a best-of-three series. L.A. did include Keibert Ruiz as a third catcher despite Roberts indicated that was more likely for the National League Division Series or Championship Series.

And as he hinted to the night of the Dodgers’ lone workout before the Wild Card Series, pinch-runner extraordinaire Terrance Gore earned a spot in the postseason. “I like what Terrance is doing,” Roberts said Tuesday.

Roberts had additionally tipped his hand in confirming Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May and Julio Urias would all make the roster; though what role any of the three will fill remains fluid. As expected, Edwin Rios is also getting his first chance to experience October baseball.

Gavin Lux, who struggled to find his footing after beginning the season at the Dodgers’ alternate training site, was not included.

Overall, the Dodgers have six rookies who are active for the Wild Card round.
