The Los Angeles Dodgers announced ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals that they have placed reliever J.T. Chargois on the 10-day disabled list with nerve irritation and recalled switch-pitcher Pat Venditte from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Chargois faced just one batter on Monday night, issuing a walk before being removed due to the neck/arm injury. This is a tough blow for the Dodgers in the midst of a tight postseason race as Chargois has been an essential part of their bullpen.

In 38 games this season, the right-hander has posted a 3.45 ERA, 4.02 FIP and 1.31 WHIP while striking out 38 and walking 15 in 31.1 innings.

After some ineffectiveness early in the season, Chargois required a short stint with Triple-A Oklahoma City. In 18 games since being called back up, he has pitched to a 1.88 ERA.

This marks the eighth time that Venditte has been recalled this season, although he has not pitched much at the big league level. He has appeared in five games, posting an 8.31 ERA, 5.69 FIP and 2.08 WHIP with four strikeouts and one walk in 4.1 innings.

Venditte has been much better with OKC though, yielding a 1.75 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 45 appearances. He has struck out 62 and walked 14 in 51.1 innings.
