The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a sweep of the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card round and advanced to the National League Division Series for a highly-anticipated matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies finished with the second-best record in the NL this season at 96-66 and clinched a first-round bye into NLDS.

They are facing the Dodgers for the sixth time in MLB postseason history and its the first meeting between the teams since the 2009 NL Championship Series.

The Phillies took four of six head-to-head meetings against the Dodgers during the regular season, including two out of three at Citizens Bank Park in early April. However, Philadelphia was outscored by L.A., 28-27, in the six games.

2025 season review: Dodgers vs. Phillies

April 4-6, Phillies win two of three

The Dodgers and Phillies met for the first time during the regular season in a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park from April 4-6.

The series opener featured a pitchers’ duel between Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Jesús Luzardo, but the Phillies were able to scratch out three runs and take a lead into the ninth inning.

Tommy Edman brought the Dodgers close with a two-run homer, but the Phillies ultimately held on for a 3-2 win.

Then in the middle game, the Dodgers bounced back with a 3-1 win over the Phillies. Roki Sasaki allowed just one run in four innings of work, while Kiké Hernández and Michael Conforto provided the offense with one home run each.

The series finale between the Dodgers and Phillies was an entertaining game with multiple lead changes. L.A. took a two-run lead in the first inning behind Teoscar Hernández’s homer, but Philadelphia quickly answered back with six runs in the third.

The Dodgers reclaimed the lead in the seventh, only for the Phillies to again respond and hang on for an 8-7 win.

Sept. 15-17, Dodgers lose two of three

The Dodgers and Phillies faced off again for three more games at Dodger Stadium in the middle of September.

The series opener was another back-and-forth affair, which saw the Dodgers send the game to extra innings after Andy Pages tied the score with a home run in the ninth.

The Phillies scored one run in the 10th and L.A. was unable to match that, losing 4-3. With that win, the Phillies clinched the NL East division at the earliest point in franchise history.

The middle game brought more frustration for the Dodgers as Shohei Ohtani threw five no-hit innings, only for the bullpen to immediately blow a 4-0 lead. L.A. would tie the score in the eighth, but Philadelphia added three more runs in the ninth inning to secure a 9-6 win.

The Dodgers salvaged their series against the Phillies with a 5-0 victory in the finale at Dodger Stadium. Blake Snell was dominant over seven scoreless innings, while Freddie Freeman provided home runs.
