The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West title for a 12th time in the past 13 seasons, which was accompanied by a muted on-field celebration before more raucous festivities in the visiting clubhouse at Chase Field.
After finishing off an 8-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, players gathered on the field and donned their divisional champions t-shirt after exchanging high-fives and some hugs. The Dodgers posed for a team photo on the mound and were cheered by a large group of Dodgers fans sitting behind the dugout.
Once in the clubhouse, manager Dave Roberts gave a speech to congratulate his players and remind them of the road that still remains ahead. The Dodgers are looking to become MLB’s first repeat World Series champion since the New York Yankees from 1998-2000.
Clayton Kershaw and Shohei Ohtani were often the subject of being sprayed with champagne and beer. Ohtani at one point was serenaded to “MVP” chants while being splashed.

Several players spoke about having an added level of excitement with accomplishing their first goal due to this being Kershaw’s 18th and final season with the Dodgers.
Max Muncy and Freddie Freeman also were among those who noted the difficulties the Dodgers endured en route to winning an NL West title that many deemed a foregone conclusion heading into the season.

Players also created a makeshift Slip ‘N Slide area and celebrated as trainers took turns going head-first down the aisle. There arguably was not a louder cheer than when Will Ireton, Shohei Ohtani’s interpreter and Dodgers front office member, took his turn.
Dodgers clinch Wild Card Series
By cementing themselves as a division winner, the Dodgers are guaranteed to host Wild Card Series games. Because the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies had already wrapped up the top two seeds in the NL, the Dodgers missed out on a first-round bye.
