The Los Angeles Dodgers traded right-handed pitcher Zach Lee to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for infielder Chris Taylor. Lee was selected by the Dodgers No. 28 overall in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft and never materialized into what many initially believed he could be.

In six Minor League seasons, he went 52-46 with a 3.98 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Lee was 7-5 with a 4.89 ERA and 1.49 WHIP over 13 starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. He began the year on a high note, but is just 2-4 with a 5.71 ERA in his last six starts.

Lee was thought to be a candidate to help fill the Dodgers’ rotation but he lost out early on in the Spring Training competition. His lone Major League experience came last July in a spot start against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

Lee allowed seven runs on 11 hits and had three strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. Taylor was batting .311/.388/.459 with 19 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 29 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 63 games with Triple-A Tacoma.

He played two games with the Mariners this season, going 1-for-3. Overall, Taylor is a career .240/.296/.296 in 86 games across parts of three seasons with the Mariners. He was selected by Seattle in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

Taylor exclusively played shortstop for the Mariners, but has Minor-League experience at second and third base as well.
