The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to be frequent users of the disabled list, with Yimi Garcia getting placed on the 15-day DL due to right biceps soreness. Zach Lee was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Garcia’s spot on the active roster.

Garcia entered in the seventh inning against the Colorado Rockies on Friday night and immediately struggled. He gave up a leadoff single and issued a walk, and allowed the tying run to score two batters later on a sacrifice fly.

After throwing a couple of pitches to Trevor Story, Garcia shook his right arm and was tended to by Dodgers assistant athletic trainer Nate Lucero. A brief conversation concluded with Garcia exiting the game due to what was later described as right biceps soreness.

For Lee, this marks his second stint in the Majors. He was part of the discussion for the Dodgers’ fifth starter job, but was optioned to Minor League camp on March 20 and seemingly lost out to Mike Bolsinger.

Bolsinger of course went on to suffer an oblique injury, but Lee never reentered the picture; Ross Stripling was eventually selected over Carlos Frias. Lee finished the spring with a 5.06 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 16 innings pitched across five games (four starts).

He had three walks and seven strikeouts, with opponents batting .308. In three starts for the OKC Dodgers this season, Lee was 3-0 with a 1.56 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, one walk and 14 strikeouts. He was scheduled to start Saturday’s contest in Iowa.

Lee went 11-6 with a 2.70 ERA and 1.11 WHIP for Oklahoma City last season, bouncing back from a poor 2014. His lone Major League game was a rough outing as he allowed seven runs on 11 hits over 4.2 innings in a spot start against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
