As the southeast portion of Texas looks to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, several professional athletes have used their platform to pledge relief themselves or generate donations.

Most notably has been Houston Texas defensive end J.J. Watt, who as of Friday morning had raised more than $14.5 million. Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher and Houston native Scott Kazmir recently donated to four separate organizations that are providing for those in need.

Teammate Curtis Granderson followed in Kazmir’s footsteps by pledging $25,000 to the Houston Food Bank. Brandon McCarthy and his wife Amanda donated an undisclosed amount, along with diapers, cribs, blankets and other necessities.

The Dodgers now have another member of the organization who’s providing for the community, as through his Wild Horse Foundation, Yasiel Puig announced a $20,000 donation was made to the Red Cross:

As families and citizens in the affected area work to return to some sense of normalcy, the Houston Astros are hoping to aid that cause by returning to Minute Maid Park on Saturday for a series with the New York Mets.

As of Thursday evening, power had been restored throughout parts of Houston, though areas such as Port Arthur remain heavily affected after being inundated by rain during a second landfall.
