Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler was among a group of star athletes and celebrities who participated in the Annexus Pro-Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium on Wednesday.

The WM Phoenix Open began on Monday and runs through Sunday, Feb. 13.

Among the other stars joining the Dodgers ace at the tournament were Michael Phelps, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Duhamel, Reggie Bush, Larry Fitzgerald, Jared Goff, Alexandra O’Laughlin, Patrick Peterson, Rob Riggle, CC Sabathia and Adam Thielen.

Buehler was paired with Scott Jenkins, David Porter, Will Ahmed and professional golfers Viktor Hovland and Harold Varner III. They were the last group to start with a tee-off time of 10:40 a.m. PT.

Also referred to as The People’s Open, it has been named the Tournament of the Year by the PGA TOUR four times in the past eight years (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019) to acknowledge the tournament’s legendary status as one the most unique events in golf.

The 2022 edition marks the 87th playing of the event, making it one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR.

This is also the 13th year with Waste Management (WM) as the sponsor of the event and for eight consecutive years, the WM Phoenix Open has been recognized as the largest zero-waste sporting event in the world.

Buehler rejected contract extension

After the Dodgers won the 2020 World Series, they reportedly attempted to sign Buehler to a long-term contract extension.

He declined to do so and instead inked a two-year, $8 million contract that included a signing bonus and incentives. Buehler was eligible for four years of salary arbitration due to being a super two player and is on track to become a free agent after the 2024 season.
