Los Angeles Dodgers Minor-League pitcher Trevor Oaks was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for games played Aug. 15-21. To earn the honor, the Triple-A Oklahoma City starter tossed a complete game, striking out 11 in a victory over El Paso.
Oaks set carer highs in strikeouts and innings pitched. He only allowed three hits and one run, retiring 19 of the first 20 hitters faced. The right-hander lost his no-hitter on a Hunter Renfroe double with one out in the seventh inning.
The 23-year-old began the season with High-A Rancho Cucamonga and has pitched across three different levels. He made four starts with the Quakes, posting a 3.60 ERA.
Oaks then went 8-1 with a 2.14 ERA over 10 starts with Double-A Tulsa. He was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week in June.
In nine starts with Oklahoma City, Oaks is 5-1 with a 3.03 ERA. He has 48 strikeouts to eight walks over 62.1 innings pitched.
Overall this season, Oaks is 14-3 with a 2.75 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 108 strikeouts across 150.1 innings.
Oaks was selected by the Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2014 draft out of California Baptist University. He joins former Oklahoma City teammate Jharel Cotton in receiving Pitcher of the Week honors.
