The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Tommy Lasorda underwent surgery on Thursday to replace his pacemaker. “He’s doing well and looking forward to returning to Dodger Stadium,” their statement read.

Lasorda was recently hospitalized for undisclosed medical reasons. At the time of confirming Lasorda’s hospital stay, the Dodgers said he was “resting comfortably.” The former manager was hospitalized twice last year.

Last August, Lasorda went to the hospital after falling at a memorabilia show in Atlantic City. He required 12 stitches. Then in October, Lasorda was hospitalized for 10 days due to shoulder and back issues, and missed the Dodgers home games during the 2016 National League Division Series.

He returned to attend contests during the NL Championship Series. Lasorda has a history of heart problems and was hospitalized in 2012 after suffering a heart attack.

Lasorda managed the Dodgers from 1976-96, guiding them to 1,599 wins during the regular season, four NL pennants and two World Series. Upon retiring from managing, he’s held various roles to maintain ties to the organization.

Lasorda has been a fixture at Spring Training and home games while serving as a special advisor to the chairman. He was on hand earlier this month for the induction of Vin Scully into the Dodger Stadium Ring of Honor.
