Dodgers News: Rich Hill Pushed Back To Start Against White Sox In Cactus League Opener

Inclement weather at Camelback Ranch has curtailed workouts for the Los Angeles Dodgers on consecutive days and also led the club adjusting their rotation when Cactus League play begins Saturday.

Rich Hill, originally scheduled to throw live batting practice on Thursday, instead is being pushed back a day to start against the Chicago White Sox. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts previously named Daniel Corcino the start for the 2019 spring opener.

“He’s thrown plenty of ‘pens to prepare himself for that,” Roberts said of moving Hill into a game environment. “Whether it’s an inning or two, he’s going to start against the White Sox.

“It’s a weather thing. We feel and he feels that he’s ready for it. To have a live hitting today and push it back, then to face an opponent, he’s thrown 10-11 ‘pens as far as before Spring Training to now, he feels his arm is in shape and he’s fine.”

After finding success in adjusting his offseason routine following the 2017 campaign, Hill did so again this winter. He now begins throwing at an earlier date in the offseason, and reported for Spring Training this year already having completed an estimated 12 bullpen sessions.

Hill threw live batting practice at Camelback Ranch on Tuesday.
