Dodgers News: X-Rays Negative On Rich Hill’s Wrist, Injury Scare Laughed Off

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Rich Hill was sent for x-rays on his right wrist following Wednesday’s win over the San Diego Padres. Hill was struck by a Trevor Cahill pitch in the second inning, and was able to joke about the matter in light of the x-ray results coming back negative.

“It was great,” Hill said of being hit for the first time in his career. “I feel like a baseball player now. … I was going to steal second.” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Hill’s first comment about the incident was in reference to his 1.000 on-base percentage this season.

“That was fleeting,” Hill quipped. In addition to receiving positive news with the x-ray results, Hill did not have any residual swelling in his wrist or hand area.

Unrelated to what transpired in the second inning, the veteran left-hander was removed after throwing 75 pitches over five innings.

Roberts went into the game with a plan of bringing the hook for Hill once he got into the neighborhood of 75-85 pitches. He allowed two hits, one run, walked three and had five strikeouts.

Next for Hill is a scheduled start Monday against the Chicago Cubs in their first game at Wrigley Field. He’s slated to be opposed by Jake Arrieta. The Cubs are holding a pregame ceremony to recognize their 2016 World Series title.
