Dodgers News: Max Muncy Loses All-Star Game Final Vote To Brewers’ Jesús Aguilar

Major League Baseball announced the results of the All-Star Game Final Vote, and Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy was not selected to represent National League.

Jesús Aguilar of the Milwaukee Brewers won it and will head to Washington D.C. for his first career Midsummer Classic, while Brandon Belt of the San Francisco Giants, Trea Turner of the Washington Nationals, and Matt Carpenter of the St. Louis Cardinals were not selected along with Muncy.

While Muncy is certainly deserving of getting an All-Star nomination, it is hard to argue that Aguillar isn’t either as both players have come out of nowhere to have breakout seasons.

Muncy began the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, but in 69 games since being called up, he is hitting .272/.412/.617 with 21 home runs, 39 RBI and 41 runs scored while playing third, first and second base for Los Angeles.

Aguilar was also not starting for his team at the beginning of the season but is currently tied for the NL lead with 23 home runs while ranking third with 64 RBI to go along with a .302/.369/.631 slashline. The Brewers currently have the best record in the NL at 55-27, and Aguilar is a big reason for that.

While it seems unlikely at this point, Muncy could still potentially be named an All-Star as a replacement if a position player goes down with an injury. He will be in Washington D.C. regardless though for All-Star week to compete in the Home Run Derby.

The other Dodgers that will also be there are Matt Kemp, Kenley Jansen and Ross Stripling, while Dave Roberts is managing the NL club.
