Dodgers News: Manny Machado Reveled In Boos From Brewers Fans, Calling It Treatment ‘The Best’ Receive

Throughout Games 6 and 7 of the National League Championship Series, Milwaukee Brewers fans did not hold back in booing Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Manny Machado.

Machado’s character was put into question during Game 4 of the series when he got tangled up with Brewers first baseman Jesús Aguilar when he grounded out to shortstop. Aguilar kept his foot on the base long after recording the out, but Machado did nothing to avoid colliding with him in a play that many people viewed as dirty.

So as expected when the series shifted back to Miller Park for the last two games of the NLCS, the Brewers’ faithful let Machado have it. Machado wasn’t willing to answer questions about the boos after the Dodgers’ Game 6 loss.

Ultimately, it was Machado who got the last laugh when the Dodgers earned a victory in Game 7 to advance to the World Series.

During the team’s celebration, he finally addressed the boos and said that he enjoyed them, via Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times:

Switching to English, the bilingual Machado said, “I just hear what they say. Just enjoy it. They’re always going to boo the best, so I just take it all in.”

Machado seems to be embracing the villain role this postseason, but his reputation has certainly taken a hit which may cost him some money in free agency this winter.

He and the rest of the team’s sole focus remains on winning a World Series though, and they are now four wins away from doing so as they get set to take on the Boston Red Sox, an opponent Machado is very familiar with dating back to his days with the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East.
