Dodgers News: Justin Turner Placed On Disabled List, Brett Eibner Recalled From Oklahoma City

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Justin Turner on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain, and recalled Brett Eibner from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Turner was removed in the seventh inning on Thursday night after suffering a hamstring injury while rounding third base.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he was hopeful Turner would avoid the disabled list, given there was still relative strength in the hamstring. Roberts added the issue was closer to Turner’s knee as opposed to in “the belly of the hamstring.”

An MRI on Friday revealed a strain, prompting the DL stint. Losing Turner for any stretch robs the Dodgers of arguably the most consistent bat in their lineup. He hit .379/.453/.493 with 13 doubles, one home run, 17 RBI, a .414 wOBA and 160 wRC+ in 39 games this season.

Eibner joins the Dodgers for a fourth stint this season. His most recent came to an end on Monday, when Brandon McCarthy was reinstated from the disabled list.

Eibner is 3-for-10 with one home run and two RBI in five games (three starts) with Los Angeles. Over 21 games with Oklahoma City, he’s batting .258/.296/.455 with two doubles, one triple, three home runs and 10 RBI.

Turner becomes the 19th different player the Dodgers have put on the disabled list this season. Last year, they set an MLB record by sending 28 players to the DL.
