Los Angeles Dodgers top pitching prospect Jose De Leon was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for a dominant pair of starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City from Aug. 22-28.

De Leon went 2-0 with 14.2 shutout innings with 23 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .100/.100/.160 batting line. The right-hander is currently in the midst of a 17.2 scoreless innings streak; he flirted with a no-hitter on Aug. 22.

On Sunday, De Leon finished with 13 strikeouts over 7.2 innings, falling one shy for most by an Oklahoma City pitcher in a single game since the club joined the PCL in 1998.

It also fell just short of De Leon’s career-high 14 strikeouts, set in 2014 with Low-A Great Lakes. His performance nonetheless helped the team clinch a second consecutive American Northern Division title.

De Leon’s recorded three straight double-digit strikeout games, and is the first pitcher Oklahoma City pitcher in PCL era to have five double-digit strikeout games in a season.

Overall this year, De Leon is 7-1 with a 2.61 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 16 starts. Also on Monday, Rob Segedin was named to the 2016 All-PCL team. He led Oklahoma City and the league in several offensive categories prior to having his contract selected by the Dodgers earlier this month.

Other Oklahoma City pitchers to take home weekly honors this season include Trevor Oaks (last week), and former Dodgers prospect Jharel Cotton in May.
