Dodgers News: Joc Pederson Credits ‘Sticking To Process’ For Offensive Turnaround

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their homestand on Tuesday with a blowout victory of the Texas Rangers in the first of a two-game Interleague series.

The Dodgers exploded for 12 runs in the game — eight of which were charged to Rangers starter Bartolo Colon. He allowed three home runs in his outing, including one to Joc Pederson, who continued his offensive resurgence in the month of June.

Pederson is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak, having collected eight hits in his last 15 at-bats. Moreover, he has tallied four doubles and four homers in that span while driving in six RBI to boot.

Pederson’s surge comes after a recent change in mindset where he is no longer concerned with his results, but rather staying true to a consistent approach, via Cary Osborne of Dodger Insider:

“What I used to do in the past was worry about the results, but now the results are kind of behind door two,” Pederson said. “So, I just (trust the process). I used to get really frustrated over not getting the results there, and I would hop on things, hop off things instead of sticking to the process. If the results aren’t there, hopefully they’re there tomorrow. And you know they’ll be there if you put in the same consistent work every day.”

After a slow start to his 2018 campaign — particularly in the power department — Pederson has heated up in the month of June with five doubles and seven home runs in 27 plate appearances. That’s after hitting only one homer over the first two months of the season.

To no surprise, Pederson is feeling “locked in” at the plate. The numbers certainly back that up, as he ranks first in all of baseball with a 425 wRC+ this month among players with a minimum of 20 plate appearances.
