The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated Rich Hill from the 10-day disabled list and optioned Grant Dayton to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Hill starts Tuesday night against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.

The outing is Hill’s first in a Major League game since April 16. The chronic blister on Hill’s left middle finger has limited him to just eight innings pitched across two starts. He’s allowed three runs on seven hits, including two home runs, has seven strikeouts and five walks.

Hill completed a two-game rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga. The first start was brief, only 29 pitches in two-thirds of an inning. Hill threw an additional 31 pitches in the bullpen to reach his goal.

Three days after a successful bullpen session at Petco Park, Hill joined the Quakes for a second rehab start. He went the targeted five innings, doing so without allowing a hit.

The DL stint was Hill’s second this season. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed confidence the 37-year-old adequately prepared himself to return from the blister.

Dayton pitched in Monday’s loss to the Giants, allowing two runs on two hits, including a home run to Buster Posey, in one inning. The left-handed reliever yielded a 5.25 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 14 games with the Dodgers.

Dayton began the season on a high note, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings over seven relief appearances before landing on the disabled list with a left intercostal strain. He permitted seven runs in 5.2 innings over seven games upon returning from the DL.

Though, Dayton did turn in scoreless appearances in four of those contests. This marks his first stint with Oklahoma City. Last season, the lefty went 2-2 with four saves and a 2.48 ERA in 26 games with OKC.
