Dodgers News: Gavin Lux Relieved To Be In ‘Better Spot’ For Homecoming Against Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers received home runs from Freddie Freeman and Gavin Lux en route to a 4-0 win against the Milwaukee Brewers in the series opener at American Family Field.

Freeman’s long ball provided the Dodgers with a lead in the first inning, and they remained ahead 1-0 until Will Smith’s sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Lux then provided more breathing room in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run home run to the opposite field. The home run was his sixth this season but first against a left-hander.

Lux, a Wisconsin native, has relished the opportunity to play in front of his family and friends while being in a better place compared to last season, per Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“I think we came early last year and I was not in a good spot. Really at all,” Lux said. “So coming back here and having my family and friends see me in a better spot is cool. It’s fun to see them because they don’t really get an opportunity to see me play very often.”

As Lux pointed out, he was in the midst of a disappointing season when the Dodgers visited Milwaukee last year, as evidenced by a .190/.232/.254 batting line at the end of the four-game series.

The former top prospect is finally having the success many envisioned when he was first called up to the Dodgers in 2019. In 105 games this season, Lux is batting .296/.375/.437 with 17 doubles, six triples, six home runs and 37 RBI across 105 games.
