Dodgers News: Corey Seager ‘Feels Fine’ After Slipping In 9th Inning

The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered their most disappointing loss of the season on Wednesday at the hands of the Miami Marlins, falling 8-6. The victory was the Marlins’s second in a row at Dodger Stadium, giving them their first series win this season.

The ninth inning, in particular, was disastrous. Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen took the mound and quickly recorded the first two outs before a pair of costly throwing errors by Corey Seager and Chase Utley attributed to the Marlins adding a pair of two-out insurance runs.

Sandwiched in between the mishaps was a pop fly hit in Seager’s direction that fell for a bloop single. He nearly made an over-the-shoulder catch, but slipped and appeared injured at first glance.

Despite initial concern, Seager remained in the game and after the loss wasn’t feeling the effects of his spill, per Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

#Dodgers Corey Seager said he slipped on play in 9th, felt "a little blip — I don't know the right word for it" in his hip. Got soft-tissue therapy after game, feels fine now

— Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr) April 26, 2018

The unfortunate slip, which extended the inning and eventually led to the Marlins scoring two unearned runs, wasn’t severe enough to force Seager to miss his next at-bat in the bottom of the frame.

Seager went on to single with two outs and later scored after Yasmani Grandal homered to bring the Dodgers within two runs.

For Seager, it was his second consecutive game with a hit, and his third in the last four contests. He has been swinging the bat better as of late and credits his recent success to feeling more comfortable at the plate.
