An equally impressive showing on both sides of the ball during the 2019 season has led to a flurry of recognition for Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Cody Bellinger. On Sunday, he won his first career Gold Glove Award for his defensive efforts in right field.

Bellinger revealed that winning a Gold Glove had always been a longtime goal of his. He became the first Dodgers player to earn the award since Zack Greinke completed a two-year stretch in 2015; he and Adrian Gonzalez won in 2014.

Bellinger is now in the running for a Rawlings Platinum Glove Award, along with the eight other National League Gold Glove winners. Since its inception in 2011, no Dodgers player has ever earned the honor.

Though he appeared at three different positions during the 2019 season, Bellinger logged the bulk of his playing time in right field and led all qualified players at the position with a 4.8 Defensive Rating. He also paced his peers with 19 Defensive Runs Saved and committed only two errors in 911.1 innings.

In addition to winning a 2019 Gold Glove Award, Bellinger also took home a pair of Fielding Bible Awards; one highlighted his play in right field and the other recognized his “multi-positional excellence.” Bellinger became the first player in MLB history to win two in a single season.

Voting for the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award began online at www.Rawlings.com on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 5 p.m. PT and will remain open until Thursday, Nov. 7, at 8:59 p.m. PT.

The Platinum Glove Award winners will be unveiled during the 2019 Rawlings Gold Glove Award Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 8, at 6:15 p.m. PT. Fans can tune in on either Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
