Through 11 regular-season games, the Los Angeles Dodgers have stormed out to an 8-3 record with one of the deepest lineups in all of baseball. Leading the offensive charge has been Cody Bellinger, who has posted historic numbers during the span.

In 51 trips to the plate, the 23-year-old leads the Majors in a plethora of categories, including runs scored (18), hits (20), home runs (seven), RBI (19) and slugging percentage (978).

Bellinger has set many records and recently became only the third player in MLB history to accumulate at least six home runs and 16 RBI in his team’s first six games, joining Eddie Mathews and Alex Rodriguez.

As one would expect with that kind of production, Bellinger believes he is in a good spot offensively. On the flip side, he acknowledged wanting to avoid the thrill surrounding his impressive start, per Jorge Castillo of the L.A. Times:

“I just feel really good,” Bellinger said. “Just trying to stay within myself in the cage and not get too ahead of myself and not give in to the hype.”

Having endured somewhat of a down sophomore season, Bellinger entered the 2019 campaign with a resurgent mindset and focused on improving his overall game in every facet.

The 2017 NL Rookie of the Year is succeeding with renewed confidence, crediting talks with coaches and watching videos over the offseason for his unprecedented start at the plate.
