The Los Angeles Dodgers made their trade with the Oakland Athletics official, acquiring outfielder Brett Eibner in exchange for Minor League infielder Jordan Tarsovich. Carlos Frias was designated for assignment to create room for Eibner on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster.

The 28-year-old was initially drafted in the fourth round by the Houston Astros in 2007. However, Eibner elected to attend the University of Arkansas, and he was then selected by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 2010 Draft.

Eibner made his MLB debut with the Royals last June, though only appeared in 26 games over three stints. He was then traded to the Athletics in July in a one-for-one swap that sent Billy Burns back to Kansas City.

Eibner appeared in 44 games for the A’s, batting a lowly .165/.252/.303 with four doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI in 123 plate appearances. He logged time at all three outfield positions.

In 70 Major League games last season, Eibner hit a combined .193/.266/.353 with 10 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 22 RBI in 208 plate appearances. He’s a lifetime .280/.356/.474 with 45 doubles, 38 home runs and 142 RBI in 231 games over parts of three seasons in Triple-A.

Eibner was ranked among the Royals’ top 30 prospects by Baseball America each year from 2010-15. He has option years remaining and is likely to spend much of the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Tarsovich was selected by the Dodgers in the 22nd round of the 2015 Draft. He spent last season with High-A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Tulsa, batting a combined .221/.325/.371 with 10 doubles, nine home runs and 32 RBI in 318 plate appearances over 90 games.

He played second base, third base and shortstop for the Quakes, and saw action at second base, third base and left field with the Drillers.
