The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning streak to three games with a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, receiving contributions from Andy Pages and Shohei Ohtani.

Pages broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a two-run homer off Hunter Greene. It was Pages’ fifth home run of the season and first since May 4.

After a torrid start to his Major League career, Pages has cooled off some over the last week. He is 4-for-his-last-22, prompting him to make some changes to his swing.

“I’ve been on a bad run the last couple of weeks, I think everyone has seen it,” Pages said through an interpreter. “I’ve been working, making some adjustments with the coaching staff. But in that at-bat, just trying to put a good swing on the ball.”

Despite his recent struggles, Pages has still been a pleasant surprise for the Dodgers this season. Since being called up last month, he is hitting a solid .265/.301/.451 with six doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI in 123 plate appearances (30 games).

Pages entered the 2024 season as the Dodgers’ No. 3 ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline. Manager Dave Roberts said he will be sticking around the big league club for the foreseeable future and recently changed his jersey number to 44.

Andy Pages: Dodgers ‘expected’ Shohei Ohtani to deliver walk-off hit

Pages’ two-run homer was the only source of offense for the Dodgers until Shohei Ohtani delivered a walk-off single in the 10th inning. “It’s something we expected,” Pages said of Ohtani’s hit.

“We obviously know he’s the best player in the world. It was just something nice.”

Ohtani has, of course, been the Dodgers’ best hitter in 2024, and he seems to be taking his offensive talents to new heights. However, one area he’s lacked this season is his production with runners in scoring position.

He has improved in that area as of late, and the walk-off hit was another sign that the early season issues were just a fluke.
