Seven minutes before the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants began their game at AT&T Park, which saw the return of Rich Hill from the 10-day disabled list, Adrian Gonzalez and Logan Forsythe were underway in their respective rehab assignments with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

In Forsythe’s case, it marked a second go-around with the Quakes. His previous rehab assignment, needed due to time missed while recovering from a fractured right big toe, was halted because of hamstring tightness.

Forsythe went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts as the designated hitter in the Quakes’ win over the Lake Elsinore Storm (San Diego Padres affiliate).

Gonzalez, on the first rehab assignment of his career, started at first base and played seven innings. He finished the night 0-for-2 with two walks.

Of more importance than results at the plate, Gonzalez said he’s no longer ailed by what forced him into going on the disabled list for the first time in his 14-year career, per Ron Cervenka of Think Blue LA:

“The main things that I went on the [disabled list] for are not there no more, so I think it’s fine,” Gonzalez said.

Forsythe and Gonzalez are both slated to play for the Quakes on Wednesday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts previously indicated the second baseman would join the team at some point during their 10-game homestand that begins Thursday.

Gonzalez is expected to return prior to Forsythe. The veteran first baseman was bothered by a right-elbow issue since Spring Training, and more recently a bulging disc in his back.
