The Los Angeles Dodgers have released Adam Liberatore from the organization, per the MLB.com transactions page. Liberatore was designated for assignment on Aug. 31 in a corresponding move to the Dodgers adding Ryan Madson to their 40-man roster.

Once a promising left-hander who was entrusted with high-leverage situations, Liberatore has faced injury trouble over parts of three consecutive seasons. The 2016 campaign saw him deal with a knee and elbow soreness, and an elbow surgery that ultimately ended his season.

Last year, Liberatore battled a groin injury and forearm soreness. The Dodgers made a decision to shut him down in early September. Coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons, Liberatore was focused on remaining healthy in 2018.

He largely managed to do so, though did battle minor ankle trouble during May. Liberatore appeared in just 17 games for the Dodgers, going 2-1 with a 2.77 ERA, 4.39 FIP and 1.39 WHIP while striking out 12 and walking eight in 13 innings.

Liberatore’s last appearance came on June 20 against the Chicago Cubs. He was part of history on May 4 by throwing a perfect inning to help the Dodgers complete a combined no-hitter against the San Diego Padres in the Mexico Series.

In 18 appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, Liberatore pitched to a 5.19 ERA and 2.02 WHIP with 17 strikeouts and six walks across 17.1 innings.
