Shohei Ohtani reached the exclusive 50-50 club with one of the greatest individual performances in MLB history against the Miami Marlins last week.

Ohtani went 6-for-6 with two doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases. He set several MLB and Dodgers franchise records in the process, including the most RBI in a game by a leadoff hitter.

“It is the single best game I’ve seen in my baseball career,” manager Dave Roberts said. “I was actually playing with Shawn when Shawn Green went 6-for-6, hit four homers, which is pretty spectacular. But I think on the cusp of what Shohei accomplished, the single most impressive thing I’ve ever seen.

“Yeah, it’s something that you just kind of hope in anticipation that it’s going to happen, and he just blew right by it. And Shohei, looking at how he looked into the dugout at his teammates. I think knowing him, though he’s probably looking at 60-60. You just never know with him.”

Ohtani tied and then surpassed Shawn Green for the most home runs in a single season in Dodgers history with his performance against the Marlins.

The two-way star has continued putting up big numbers since the historic game, going 8-for-12 with two home runs, three RBI and four stolen bases during the Dodgers’ three-game series against the Colorado Rockies.

With six games remaining on the Dodgers’ regular-season schedule, Ohtani is at 53 home runs and 55 stolen bases for the season. He would need to go on an unprecedented tear to have a chance for 60-60.

“I would say it’s unrealistic. Very unrealistic. But with him, anything’s possible,” Roberts said of the possibility. “But it’s certainly very unrealistic. It’s just, man, what a tremendous season.”

Shohei Ohtani breaks MLB record for most games with home run & stolen base

Ohtani broke Rickey Henderson’s record that was set in 1984 for the most games with a home run and stolen base. Ohtani has 15 such games this season, with the most recent one coming on Sept. 22 against the Rockies.
