Dodgers News: Kiké Hernández & Teoscar Hernández Combined For MLB History Against Yankees

Teoscar Hernández stole headlines during the weekend series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, and combined with Kiké Hernández to make MLB history in an 11-3 win on Saturday.

Teoscar slugged a solo home run and grand slam, and Kiké added a long ball of his own. That amounted to the first time in MLB history that two players named Hernández hit a home run in the same game.

Teoscar Hernández had multiple hits in every game against the Yankees and went a combined 6-for-12 with two doubles, three home runs and seven RBI.

On Friday night, Hernández delivered a two-run double in the 11th inning that lifted the Dodgers to a win.

He followed that on Saturday with a solo homer in the second inning to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead, and his grand slam broke the game open in the eighth.

Hernández finished off his big weekend with a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning but Tyler Glasnow couldn’t protect the lead and the Dodgers had to settle for a series win rather than a sweep.

Hernández became the first player with three home runs and nine RBI in a single series against the Yankees since 2019. The last player who had accomplished the feat was Mookie Betts when he was with the Boston Red Sox.

Kiké Hernández didn’t enjoy nearly as prolific of a weekend, but did manage hits in two of the three games. He was among multiple Dodgers players who raved about the atmosphere at Yankee Stadium.

Teoscar Hernández embraces ‘moment’

The Dodgers’ spending spree in free agency largely focused on Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but Hernández has been a significant addition as well.

He’s regularly spoken highly about getting an opportunity to play for the Dodgers and this past weekend gave Hernández an opportunity to demonstrate how much he enjoys big games.
