Dodgers Injury Updates: Blake Snell, Emmet Sheehan, Tyler Glasnow & Roki Sasaki

The list of injured Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers grew to include Tony Gonsolin over the weekend as he’s dealing with right elbow discomfort.

In addition to Gonsolin, the Dodgers remain without the likes of Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki and Emmet Sheehan, among others. Their starting rotation also does not include Shohei Ohtani, though he is making steady progress and is scheduled to face batters at Petco Park on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Snell and Glasnow are due to get off a mound as well and Sheehan is making rehab starts.

Dodgers updates

Blake Snell

Snell has bounced back from the point of being shut down for a second time because of left shoulder discomfort and now is poised to throw his first bullpen session since that point. Snell is with the Dodgers in San Diego and will throw his bullpen at Petco Park.

He’s spent the past couple weeks stretching out with playing catch and this past weekend threw 10 pitches from the mound to a standing catcher.

“It was more of being on the mound, certainly getting some content is what they say,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts quipped. “Getting content. So I guess he was successful.”

Snell made just two starts, pitching with shoulder trouble, before going on the injured list.

Tyler Glasnow

Roberts’ recent comments about Glasnow experiencing body soreness raised some concerns, but the right-hander clarified it was only minor back trouble and he was picking back up with his progression shortly after.

Glasnow is scheduled to throw a bullpen session in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

“He’s doing really well. Very excited and anxious to start facing some hitters. So that’s coming too,” Roberts said.

Roki Sasaki

Further down the line for a return to the Dodgers rotation is Sasaki, who has been out since May 13 because of a right shoulder impingement.

“He is just playing catch. No bullpen scheduled yet,” Roberts said.

Emmet Sheehan

With the Dodgers needing to find a replacement in their rotation for Gonsolin, it’s possible Sheehan becomes that answer in two weeks or so.

“He’s coming,” Roberts acknowledged. “He’s going to pitch this week. He was three-plus a few days ago, so he’s going to go this week. The plan is to get him through four innings.

“If he can do that, then he’s sort of going to be viable in the conversation.”
