Dodgers Injury Updates: Blake Snell & Blake Treinen Expected To Miss Significant Amount Of Season

The injury bug has been biting the Los Angeles Dodgers once again with numerous pitchers currently unavailable, including two key arms in Blake Snell and Blake Treinen.

Snell was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this month because of left shoulder inflammation that he dealt with during his first two starts. After some rest, Snell resumed throwing but was shut down once again.

Treinen was placed on the 15-day IL in the middle of April due to a low-grade right forearm strain. He has not thrown a baseball since April 18, when he was warming up in the bullpen to potentially pitch against the Texas Rangers.

Both of them remain fully sidelined from baseball activities.

“They’re laying low, not playing catch until they hear otherwise,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

For either of them to begin making progress toward a return, they will have to fully recover from their respective issues. Until that happens, both Snell and Treinen will remain shut down from throwing.

“Certainly pain-free,” Roberts said. “I think pain-free is one thing, and just building up arm strength. They’ve actually both been through this, so there’s a point of reference for both those guys.”

Snell previously underwent an additional MRI and it showed results that were encouraging to the Dodgers. However, he did get an injection in his ailing left shoulder.

With Treinen, the Dodgers believe he just needs rest until the issue goes away.

But the Dodgers plan to be cautious with both pitchers as they focus on making sure they’re healthy for the long run.

“I think with Blake (Treinen), just appreciating the fact that we’re going to need him in the second half and beyond, we have time so take the time that way when he gets back, we can just go from there and not look back,” Roberts said.

“I think Blake Snell is in that similar kind of bucket.”

Tyler Glasnow joins Dodgers injured list

The Dodgers placed Tyler Glasnow on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation and recalled Noah Davis from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Glasnow started on Sunday, but lasted just one inning before being removed. The right-hander finished throwing warmup pitches to start the second inning but was seen shaking his arm before being checked on by Roberts and head athletic trainer Thomas Albert.
