Dodgers Injury Update: Blake Snell Not ‘Worried’ About Shoulder Inflammation

Blake Snell made two starts for the Los Angeles Dodgers before being placed on the 15-day injured list due to left shoulder inflammation earlier this month.

The left-hander underwent an MRI that revealed no structural damage in his shoulder and was recommended rest rather than surgery.

Snell resumed playing catch last week and threw his first bullpen session on Saturday, which he said went well despite still dealing with some lingering pain.

The 32-year-old said his shoulder feels significantly better and is no longer concerned about his injury, via Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“I just want to pitch,” he said. “Am I worried about it? No. I was worried about it when I went on the IL but not any more. It feels way better.”

Snell accompanied the Dodgers on their current road trip, which has allowed him to continue working with team trainers.

It isn’t clear at this point if Snell will need to go on a Minor League rehab assignment before returning to the Dodgers.

“I think that’s contingent on how long he’s down,” manager Dave Roberts said last week. “The longer, the more possibility. If it’s on the shorter side, then probably not. … It hasn’t been that long, so if he can get back and feel good, frisky, then we can move it quicker. And if not, then we’ve got to slow-play him.”

Blake Snell’s 2025 season

Snell has allowed just two runs in nine innings pitched this season, but he’s also yielded 10 hits and eight walks against just four strikeouts.

Snell pitched through the shoulder inflammation in both of his starts, which likely contributed to the inflated walks total.
