The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning streak to four games with a rout of the Philadelphia Phillies as the offense combined to hit four home runs.

Will Smith opened the scoring with a two-out, solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. The home run was his fourth of the season and first since coming off the concussion injured list last week.

The second inning started with back-to-back walks from James Outman and Miguel Vargas. David Peralta then capitalized with a three-run shot down the right field line, putting L.A. up 4-0. For Peralta, it was his second homer of the season.

The Dodgers added another in the third when Jason Heyward blasted a solo home run to center field, his fourth long ball of 2023.

The Phillies got on the board with a home run from Kyle Schwarber in the top of the fourth, but the Dodgers added three more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Micahel Busch started the rally with a single, and Mookie Betts followed with one of his own. Busch and Betts were able to advance to second and third on a throwing error by Brandon Marsh.

Freddie Freeman came through with a two-run single and ended up on second base. A base hit from Smith drove in Freeman to put the Dodgers up 8-1 and chase Taijuan Walker from the game.

The Phillies scored twice before the Dodgers added another run in the fifth inning on a ground-rule double from Betts. Philadelphia added another run in the sixth for their fourth of the game.

Following the seventh-inning stretch, Michael Busch walked and stole second base, then Betts went yard for his fifth homer of 2023, putting L.A. up 11-4.

As if they needed more insurance, the Dodgers added a 12th run when Miguel Vargas grounded into a bases loaded force out, and then a 13th run when David Peralta singled.

That led to first baseman Kody Clemens taking over on the mound for the Phillies, and he ended up facing relief pitcher Shelby Miller, who was batting when the Dodgers lost the designated hitter to move Vargas to first base. Clemens got Miller to ground into a force out to end the inning.

Miller remained in the game for the ninth and closed out the 13-4 victory for the Dodgers.

Dodgers tie season-high for runs scored and home runs

The Dodgers’ four home runs tied a season-high, set on April 1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks and matched on April 22 against the Chicago Cubs. Their 13 runs also matched a season-high, which previously was accomplished on April 3 against the Colorado Rockies.
