Dodgers Highlights: Trevor Bauer, Offense Overwhelm Marlins

The Los Angeles Dodgers remained undefeated on the homestand and extended their winning streak to four games by shutting out the Miami Marlins, 7-0. They are in position to complete a sweep and now have won consecutive series for the first time in one month.

Max Muncy added to his recent improvement at the plate and was the only player in the Dodgers lineup to collect more than one hit as he went 3-for-4 with one run scored and an RBI. What the team lacked in total hits they made up for with a balanced attack.

Justin Turner’s leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Dodgers their first hit against Jordan Holloway and lit a bit of a spark. Max Muncy followed with a single of his own and Will Smith’s walk loaded the bases with nobody out.

Chris Taylor’s walk brought in the Dodgers’ first run and Gavin Lux’s RBI groundout doubled their lead before Holloway could get out of the inning. Muncy blooped an RBI single into shallow left field in the fourth inning and Chris Taylor’s groundout brought in another run.

The Dodgers broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth behind DJ Peters’ pinch-hit two-run single and a sacrifice fly from Mookie Betts. The RBI were Peters’ first of his career and second hit this season.

By then Trevor Bauer had dominated the Marlins to the tune of 10 strikeouts over seven shutout innings. Bauer’s perfect game was broken up by Holloway’s two-out single in the third inning. It was one of only two hits Bauer allowed on the night.

Seager fractures hand

The Dodgers keeping their winning streak alive came at a significant cost as Corey Seager was diagnosed with a fracture in his right hand. Seager was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning and immediately removed from the game.
