Dodgers Highlights: Tony Gonsolin Turns In Strong Start, Corey Seager Drives In Winning Run Against Mariners

The Los Angeles Dodgers went into Tuesday afternoon’s game with a six-game winning streak, and although it wasn’t easy, they were able to extend it with a 2-1 win over the Seattle Mariners.

Just a night after the two teams combined for 20 runs, seven home runs and 26 hits, neither of them could buy any offense as it went into the sixth inning scoreless in the second of a home and home series. The final two games will take place at T-Mobile Park.

The Dodgers were finally able to break through in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Austin Barnes getting the rally started with an infield single. After advancing to second on a groundout by Corey Seager, Barnes scored on a single to left by Justin Turner.

Both Barnes and Turner have been swinging the bat well as of late, with the former extending his hit streak to seven games and the latter extending his to 12 games.

With the game tied at one in the bottom of the eighth, the Dodgers found themselves needing a run once again to take the lead.

Once again, it was Barnes that got things started by working a walk with one out. He was then able to steal second, putting himself in scoring position for Seager, who singled to bring him home to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.

A lot has been talked about the first matchup between the Seager brothers, and to this point, Corey has gotten the better of his big brother Kyle.

Gonsolin turns in another stellar outing

The reason the Dodgers were able to stay in the game despite only two runs and six hits from their offense was an outstanding performance from starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin.

It was unclear how long Gonsolin would remain in the rotation, but he may have solidified his spot by tossing six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three and walking none on 84 pitches.

He was in control all day long and even saw his fastball hitting 98 mph in his final inning of work.

With Kenley Jansen down after a long outing on Monday, Blake Treinen was tasked with getting the final five outs, and he was able to do so to earn his second win of the season.
