Dodgers Highlights: Teoscar Hernández, Andy Pages & Will Smith Swing Hot Bats Against Diamondbacks

The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from having a five-game winning streak by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-4, to start the final leg of their road trip.

Monday’s game was the Dodgers’ first visit to Chase Field since they were swept by the Diamondbacks in the National League Division Series last year. Manager Dave Roberts and multiple players downplayed that factor, however, noting this is a different season with new players on the roster and a focus on moving forward.

After falling into a 1-0 deficit, the Dodgers responded in the second inning with Kiké Hernández delivering a game-tying RBI double. Andy Pages’ sacrifice fly then gave L.A. a decided lead.

In the fourth inning, Teoscar Hernández solved the Dodgers’ woes with the bases loaded by hitting a ground-rule double to the pool in right-center field. Pages then broke the game open with a two-run double.

After the Diamondbacks cut into their deficit with a big fifth inning, Will Smith created a little more separation on his third home run of the season. The homer was also Smith’s second of the road trip as his power swing has started to come around.

Shohei Ohtani provided the final bit of insurance for the Dodgers with an RBI single in the eighth inning.

James Paxton again battled some command issues as he finished with a season-high-tying five walks over six innings. He largely managed to limit damage, with an exception coming when the Diamondbacks produced a three-run fifth inning.

After Paxton got through five innings, Daniel Hudson, Joe Kelly, Alex Vesia and Evan Phillips each pitched a scoreless frame.
