Dodgers Highlights: Mookie Betts, Kiké Hernandez Homer In Extra-Inning Win Over Diamondbacks

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks required extra innings for the second night in a row at Chase Field, and once again, the best team in baseball came away with a win, earning a 6-4 victory in 10 innings to improve to 32-12 on the season.

The Dodgers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Mookie Betts hit the second pitch of the game out to left-center field for a leadoff home run. Betts continues to be in the mix for National League MVP and now has a team-leading 14 home runs.

L.A. doubled their lead in the second inning when Kiké Hernandez hit a home run of his own, his fourth of the year. Hernandez also drove in a run with a single in the fourth in what was a big night for him wearing No. 21 on Roberto Clemente Day.

While the Dodgers’ defense didn’t help starter Clayton Kershaw out, they buckled down when the bullpen entered the game. Five Dodgers relievers combined to toss five scoreless innings to send the game to extras and then close it, with Blake Treinen picking up his first save since Kenley Jansen wasn’t available.

Taylor drives in winning run in 10th inning

As was the case on Tuesday night, the Dodgers did not waste any time putting runs on the board in extra innings to avoid extending the game too long.

Chris Taylor got it started in the 10th, singling up the middle to drive home Corey Seager. After Max Muncy drew a walk, AJ Pollock then added some insurance with an RBI single of his own to make it 6-4.

With another series win, the Dodgers’ magic number to clinch the NL West is now down to just 12.
