Dodgers Highlights: Max Muncy, Joc Pederson, Cody Bellinger Homer In Win Over Cubs

The Los Angeles Dodgers were able to get back in the win column on Wednesday night, defeating the Chicago Cubs, 7-5, to improve to 43-36 on the season.

As has been the case for much of June, the Dodgers relied on the home run ball to power themselves to victory. They got it started early in the bottom of the first inning when Max Muncy launched a solo home run to center field off of Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks.

The long ball was Muncy’s 16th of the season, although he was not able to hold onto that lead for very long. Yasmani Grandal capped off a big first inning for the Dodgers with a two-run double, erasing an early deficit.

Along with Muncy, who has nine home runs in June, another hitter who has been doing the most damage is Joc Pederson.

He hit a two-run shot to right field in the bottom of the second inning off Hendricks, giving him 10 home runs during the month of June, which is tied for the Major League lead.

The final big fly on the evening came in the bottom of the eighth inning off the bat of Cody Bellinger, providing Kenley Jansen with a big insurance run en route to earning a four-out save.

Bellinger is right behind Pederson and Muncy with eight home runs in June, and is now tied with Muncy for the team lead with 16 overall home runs on the year.

The Dodgers as a team have hit 51 home runs in the month of June, which is just two off of the team record for most in a month, which they set last June.
